The Hold has two thrones made of Imass bones but empty. Paran also learns that Burn is being poisoned by the Crippled God chained to her, Burn chose to sleep, less than 2000 years ago, to escape the prison of her own flesh and turn her entire spirit into a weapon - a hammer - that Brood carries.
- Chains of the Crippled God can be broken with Burn's hammer, but once freed the God will kill every living being in his fury. But if not freed, he will continue poisoning Burn ultimately killing her and thus using her Warren to gain access to all other Warrens, which would still mean destruction. Brood chose to go with second option to allow few more generations to the living beings of this world.
- The table used by Brood was earlier used by Hedge et al and contained all Cards of Deck of Dragons. A new face appeared on its underside - of Paran - and the table flew in air, seeping power into Paran. Quick Ben brought it down, asked Rake not to probe his powers, and dug a hole under Kallor's feet when he threated to kill the source of Quick's powers.

They refused to combine their powers with Matrons and resulted in a civil war. One Matron tried to harness the power of the gate to Warren of Chaos - the Rent over Morn.
- Jaghut Tyrants tried to control Imass as their Gods, Imass realized very late and once they did, they declared war and despite support from other Jaghuts, suffered heavy losses, they lost trust on all Jaghuts and vowed to kill them all
- before the Jaghuts, K'Chain Che'Malle ruled the world and they tried to dominate Jaghuts in the same manner as Jaghuts did to Imass
- Kruppe angered Brood who strikes his Hammer near Kruppe's feet - the detonation was huge and earth moved but nothing happened to Kruppe. who did Kruppe show off to? Kallor maybe.
- Silverfox carried souls of Tattersail, Nightchill, Bellurdan and Pran Chole (?) and Rhivi (?)
- why was Moonspawn hidden? and how did it get all those damages?
- Brukhalian is betrayed by Rath'Fener who gets punished by Itkovian
- by freeing two hounds and returning them to dark, or maybe due to touching the blood of a dying Hound, Paran could not call Hounds to his help, maybe all of them
- Nightchill showed Paran the vision of a terrified Fener trapped in mortal world
- Draconus was trapped inside Dragnipur, but exchange of few words with Paran and momentary breach into the Warren of Darkness provided by Paran helped his cause (how?)
- Draconus was very cruel but he changed while trapped for long inside Dragnipur, atleast that's what Nightchill claimed. (how is Nightchill related to Draconus?)
- to free Draconus from the sword, it has to be shattered, but that will release everyone else too
- Nightchill is the third Elder God who cursed Kallor and got cursed with a betrayal in return
- when punishing Rath'Fener for betrayal, Itkovian cut his hands and some alien god accepted them, as Fener was in the mortal world and couldn't accept them. That alien god didn't know what to make of that gift and got caught in Itkovian's embrace and managed to disengage himself with some trouble. Itkovian in the process also accepted the pain of all the thousands of people killed around him and died in the process before being revived by Paran.
- Talamandas' spirit was trapped in a sticksnare of wrapped sticks and knotted twine, with an acorn for a head. As such he was immune to many effects of Crippled God's poison. With the powers on ancient Barghast Gods who have now awakened, he acted as a shield to protect Ben against Crippled God's poisoning of warrens. He did so because Barghast Gods decided to trust Ben's wits for defeating Crippled One. Ben figured out that other Gods have helped Barghast Gods in shaping the defense of Talamandas - Hood, Queen of Dreams, Trake, etc
- Rake reveals that Fener was torn from his realm and brought to mortal earth by Heboric who was wrongly punished by Laseen because he discovered the truth behind failed assassination. Due to this injustice, Heboric's hands were a poison to Fener which he could not remove from his realm, so he burnt tattoos of denial on Heboric and waited for him to die so that he could use Heboric's spirit as a weapon against the foul priests and the Empire. But Heboric came into contact of an object made in Warren of Chaos, the vast surge of power obliterated the protective seal around his hands and found Fener. Tiger of Summer now ascends to take Fener's place but Treach is young and much weaker as of now.
- when Crippled God fell, many Elder Gods were killed. The survivors - including K'rul - know where he came from and seriousness of threat
- Crippled God wanted approval of his newly created House of Chains, which Master of Deck can approve or decline.
- Quick Ben visited Bauchelain's estate, told him about who is poisoning the warrens (feels like he is opening fronts against Crippled God rather than fighting him directly), and hurts Bauchelain and Korbal when they threaten to kill him.
- Gruntle started feeling for Hetan, to the dislike of Stonny
- Cafal found swords in buried canoes, as a potential source of knowledge to the children of his clan, so that they can reidscover the knowledge their ancestors possessed
- Emancipor wanted both his masters killed
- Hood controls Talamandas, Barghast gods gifted him away, without understanding how the world has changed. Quick Ben thinks Hood has made him the face of The Magi - a long time empty card in the House of Death
- Hood tells Quick that Crippled God is recruiting among Gods. Poliel, Mistress of Pestilence, wants to be Consort to the King of Chains, Herald has been recruited, House of Chain has found a Mortal Sword in distant lands, an ancient warrior (Kallor) seeks to be Reaver, Mowri now embraces the Three - Cripple, Leper and Fool - which are in place of Spinner, Mason and Soldier.
- Quick gets Hood to release his grip on Talamandas
- Itkovian decided to create a new Reve worshipping wolf gods to save Grey Swords from extinction (their current god Fener was lost and dying). Captain Norul was to be Shield Anvil, while the recruit was to be Destriant. They were to recruit from Tenescowri.
- Togctha and Farand (Togg and Fanderay) were the names given to lover wolfs in Barghast language
- T'lan Ay were giant wolves which were also bound to the Imass ritual
- whole of Kron T'lan Imass came to second gathering, all their Bonecasters and Kron - the War Leader
- Logros clan could only send two Bonecasters - Ay Estos and Olar Ethil - as others were hunting renegedes. Latter was first among Bonecasters, Eleint, the First Soletaken. It is her dreams that Silvefox was in. She was searching for other TlanImass armies - Orshan, Ifayle, Kerluhm, Bentract - first three believed extinct, last one has four clans trapped within Warren of Chaos on Jacuruku. These armies were dispatched on the order of Kellanved when he occupied First Throne. Imass wanted a mortal to release them, but he ascended and took Throne of Shadow, but didn't yield First Throne. So they shaped Silverfox.
- renegedes of Logros Tlan Imass have been using Warren of Chaos in their flight
- Pannion Seer is the only true blood Jaghut remaining on earth, not hidden in service of a god, or in service of House of Azath. He commands K'Chain Che'Malle undeads.
- Kruppe claims Tlan Imass have won their war because Jaghut are no longer the threat they were earlier, there are powers to defeat them.
- Silverfox refuses to release T'lan Imass during second Gathering. Kruppe and two Bridgeburners were witness.
- Rake could unleash Kurald Galain through his mouth as dragon
- Murillio and Coll help Mhybe
- Mhybe visits some creature in her dreamworld who told her that Pannion Seer captured Matron when she turned mad at her failed efforts of recreating her old world, including resurrecting her dead children
- Pannion Seer prisoned Toc by putting him in same cell as Matron
- Toc had Togg's spirit within him, while Baaljagg had Fanderay's spirit.
- Prince Jelarkan of Capustan died in Pannion Seer's attack.
- Picker and Blend knocked the two necromancers unconscious.
- Paran declares that Silverfox has truly become a Bonecaster
- Brood's warren of High Denul was unaffected by poison. Neither was Tellan affected, which is why Trygalle Trade Guild asked Silverfox's permission to use it. Though Tellan was assailed by reneged contesting Throne of Beast Hold.
- Nightchill, Bellurdan and Tattersail are all reborn within Silverfox, along with seed-child of Pran Chole.
- The wolf-gods were separated when Crippled God fell.
- Togg and Fanderay were ascended beasts.
- Lady Envy's company finds an abandoned floating city of Meckros. Seguleh known about these. There they find Lanas Tog.
- Lanas Tog is last of Kerluhm T'lan Imass. He/She tells Envy that Ifayle are all destroyed except few involved in a conflict which they cant get out of. Ifayle answered summons of Kerluhm for conflict on the continent of Assail. This conflict was not with a Jaghut, but a human.
- After battle of Capustan, Itkovian meets the artist Omulogun of Li Heng, with a toad - Gumble - as critic. Malazan armies had artists to capture historic moments.
- Itkovian was a Elin (from Elingarth?) and his homeland is not under Malazan rule.
- Knight of Death saved Coll and Murillio from Korbal and Bauchelain (who is this Knight? he is not alive, doesn't know he is dead, can't sleep, can't release swords from his hands, only thing he remembers is that he was in fire and sworn to protect a child's life, Coll thinks he is Malazan)
- Laseen knew Crippled God was going to make a move, so she inverted command structure and got important people on the ground - Dujek, Whiskeyjack, Tayschrenn. She expected Gods to make a mess of it, but not about Pannion Seer being helped by Crippled God.
- Quick sent Kalam to kill Laseen because he had to convinced in person that she is dead.
- Crippled God's warren wanders
- Tayschrenn was grooming Tattersail for role of Mistress of the Deck. Paran caught that residual effect from her and was lucky to be nearby when Tattersail died.
- Tayschrenn is actually a good guy, he ordered Bridgeburners to stay within tunnels because he thought that was the safest place. (Tunnel collapse at Pale was an accident.) He really believed he could take down Moon's Spawn and force Rake into the open and he almost succeeded. Nightchill fouled her plans. She was working with Bellurdan to get Rake's sword (to save Drakonus?). When she took out High Mage A'Karonys - who realized her plans - Tayschrenn hit her.
- Citizens of Aren were slaughtered by T'lan Imass on the orders on Kellanved, who was supposed to be dead, in order to foul her name.
- Crust and Urko were supposed to be drowned, and Dassem was slained, but Whiskeyjack thinks they simply disappeared to avoid Laseen.
- Quick sent cussers, etc to Fiddler through Trygalle during Coltaine's march
- Baruk wanted to help because he saw a danger between Azath and Icarium, and out of respect for Coltaine
- It has been mentioned a lot that Kruppe dabs his forehead three times with his silk handkerchief
- Paran 'blessed' Anaster in some way.
- Pannion Seer wanted Itkovian for Matron
- Matron feared Moon's Spawn. What Tiste Andii now occupy is the last remaining flying fortress created by K'Chain Nah'ruk - the Short Tails - to war againt their long tailed kins. It was damaged in war and left to drift northward towards Jaghut ice.
- Fanderay was damaged by Fall, and an Elder God put her spirit in the last surviving wolf on the continent
- Rake regarded Whiskeyjack as a friend, like Brood.
- Necromancers followed Gruntle & co.
- Coll thinks he might have a 3 year old child from Simtal
- Twist has a fatal infection.
- Tiste Edur, grey skinned wanderers of the sea, were children of Shattered Warren - Kurald Emurlahn. Few of their survivors, from a fragment of that warren in forest of Moranth, were welcomed by Moranth. This was considered crime by Barghast who wanted to kill Tiste Edur and hated Moranth.
- Laseen sent a new army under Adjunct Tavore to Seven Cities but she is about to lose Coltaine. So the plan is that after Pannion, Whiskeyjack takes Onearm's Host to Seven Cities and maybe Onearm goes to Korel.
- On their way to Coral, Paran, Quick and Moranths find a dead Tiste Edur, possibly killed by another Tiste Edur by making him appear in a deep ocean trench, like nearby Ortnal's Cut. They realize Tiste Esur are coming back to mortal realm, and maybe Shadowthrone is in trouble due to his house Meanas, which is just a gateway to Shadow realm (the realm was broken, so it might be gateway to the largest fragment)
- Paran teleporta to Throne of Shadow and finds it in mortal realm. Its in a wide, low chamber near sea with water-stained, lichen covered stone walls. High and wide horizontal slits as windows. Throne is carved out of a single trunk of crimson wood, shadows flowing in the bark.
- Tiste Edur are corrupted and searching for Throne of Shadow. Its hidden on Drift Avalii, the wandering isle, west of Quon Tali. Rake put some Tiste Andii to defend it, but they sacrificed their lives and led Edur away.
- Edur want to destroy Mother Dark. They are led by one who has been slained a hundred times, the Tyrant of Pain, the Deliverer of Midnight Tides
- Within Dragnipur, captured souls are constantly pulling a wagon and running from Chaos. Power of those souls would provide sufficient energy for Chaos to breach the gates of Darkness. The Gate is within the wagon and is forced to constantly run with the help of souls. But its slowing and either Rake feeds more souls here or Gate needs to be freed by shattering Dragnipur, so that Gate can resume its original power of migration.
- Draconus admits he made a mistake by tying the Gate within Dragnipur
- While Chaos can defend itself by adapting, so can Order (in the form of Houses of Azath, Deck of Dragons). Houses take souls and bind them in place, beyond the clasp of Chaos.
- There is some limitation to where Paran can teleport to, he couldn't reach Rake.
- Orfantal is Korlat's second in command and her brother.
- During fight at Coral, Kallor decides to hit Silverfox, she calls T'lan Aye to defend but they don't appear. Whiskeyjack fights Kallor but his leg gives way and he dies. Then Tayschrenn hits Kallor with magic and drove him away.
- Korlat realozis Tayschrenn survived a magic blow that would have killed her.
- Gruntle and his legion can combine into a form of big tiger.
- Silverfox gave up hope and vanished within Tellan after Kallor's betrayal.
- Itkovian accepted the pain of T'lan Imass. Their memories were still intact after 300 thousand years. Pran Chole helped him take their memories and release in Mhybe's dreamscape and bringing it to life, while Kruppe guided Mhybe, whose body is being put in a Hood's temple at Capustan, where she will sleep eternally, and guarded and provided for eternally by Knight of Death who can't sleep.
- Battle of Coral was won at the last moments by T'lan Ay killing K'rel Hunters and Moon's Spawn appearing
- For the first time, all of Tiste Andii combined to unveil Kurald Galain, over Coral (battle was that desperate?)
- Tool was defeated by Mok, but saved by his sister Kilava. She also opened the Warren of Tellan to allow Baaljaag to pass through and from there to the dreamscape.
- The other two Seguleh were almost a match for K'ell Hunters.
- Moon's Spawn was almost spent
- Malazan Imperial Navy ships appeared near Coral confirming the involvement of Malazans
- Itkovian Otanthalian was from Erin, died in Coral
- Silverfox had made a pact with Hood about exchanging souls of T'lan Imass in return of keeping her mother. Hood seems to honour his promise even though Itkovian released Imass souls.
- Silverfox released T'lan Ay when confronted by Tool and Lanas Tog.
- Quick used his warren to teleport Seer and Paran and himself to Morn, near the rent. (what happened to Matron.?)
- Jaghuts couldn't use Omtose Phellack since its unveiling will be detected by Tlan Imass, so Seer used Chaos.
- Quick & Paran put Seer and his sister in Burn's cavern. idea was that ice from unveiled Omtose Phallack would slow the infection.
- Toc's soul is transferred to Anastsr's body and he becomes Mortal Sword of Togg and Fanderay.
- Pran Chole and his clan decide to help Lanas Tog's kin trapped in war, before accepting release by Silverfox
- All except 6 Bridgeburners die in Coral and are buried in Moon's Spawn where they are blessed by Paran. Whiskeyjack and the two marines following Silverfox are also buried there. Remaining Bridgeburners and Paran are offered enough money by Dujek and ride to Darujhistan to start their new life.
- Itkovian is honoured after death by everyone presenting something to his grave.
- Quick thinks highly of wizards of Mottwood
- Tyrgalle brought Duiker's body to Darujhistan where Baruk resurrected him but could not make him speak.
- Picker opened a tavern in Darujhistan - K'rul's Bar
- all the remaining bridgeburners and Paran and Kruppe are in Darujhistan along with Duiker
- Orfantal and Karlot are about to start hunting Kallor
Book 4
- Karsa is ashamed of his father for not being adventurous, awed by his grandfather's stories of great raids (which turn out to be false later).
- Urugal the Woven was Uryd clan's face in the Rock.
- Karsa started for Silver Lake to slay children (men) there, along with Delum Thord and Bairoth Gild. He aimed to restore the glory of Uryd and unite Teblor. Infact he was being used by Seven Faces of Rock.
- Seven Faces of the Rock - Urugal (Urual) the Woven, Beroke (Ber'ok) Soft Voice, Kahlb the Silent Hunter, Thenik the Shattered, Halad Rack Bearer Giant, Imroth (Emroth) the Cruel and 'Siballe (Sin'b'alle) the Unfound. Each God wasa T'lan Imass broken in some way. They were buried/imprisoned by their kin in a tomb on Laederon plateau, where they were able to twist minds of shamans of people taking refuge here and get treated like gods. These seven ultimately get freedom by swearing fealty to Crippled God and guiding Karsa to their intended destination near Jhag Odhan.
- Since the appearance of Seven Faces, there was no illness in Teblor.
- Karsa sudued a pack of dogs and named their leader Gnaw.
- Karsa and his party find a female Forkrul Assail trapped beneath a slab and free her. Upon seeing her condition, Karsa swore T'lan Imass as his enemies. Female was Calm - a Bringer of Peace (peace for her is death). She prophecised that Karsa would one day stand to change the world and she will be there then. She attacked Karsa and hit him easily. Also made Delum go mad and behave like a dog.
- Karsa and Bairoth come across a mountain which seemed to be cut in half by a God. There were steps on the side made of bones of tens of thousands of warriors.
- Humans have captured Sunyd and used them as slaves. Planned to do the same for Rathyd and Uryd as well.
- Malazans have occupied the Nathii town Karsa attacked. Some original lowlanders had resisted Malazans but were captured. One of them is Torvald Nom, or Knuckles, from house of Nom in Darujhistan. He is freed by Karsa and warns him against Nathii.
- Silgar is the Slave Master who talked Karsa into revealing secrets about Uryd.
- Karsa vowed against Malazans too but later started to respect them.
- When Dujek won Pale, Ashok Regiment is in Northwest Genabackis. This is when their Sergeant Cord caught Karsa with the help of powerful sorcery (Ruse) and transported him to Malyntaeas where Crimson Guard is stirring up trouble to undermine Malazan rule.
- Malazan won Northwest Genabackis due to infighting among Nathii, Genabarii and Korhivi.
- Malazan ship carrying Karsa is caught in a storm and transported to a sea in another warren (same as Gesler's crew), where he and Torvald come across a destroyed fleet. Later they find Silanda [see Glossary] near a huge floatsam against some some kind of wall in the sea. On the ship were Tiste Edur who were easily killed by Karsa. This disrupted some plan by the Seven Faces, one of whom spread Otataral in the cabin to stop Tiste Edur mage's open warren becoming a wound. These Seven are being hunted by their kin (are these T'lan Imass?).
- Silgar used the closing gate of a warren made by someone powerful to escape out of the sea warren, and reached north coast of Seven Cities, at the point where A'rath forest meets Otataral Sea, 15 days east of Ehrlitan. They meet Keeper (or Ba'ienrok) who is presumably dead, and lives near the coast in a house made of fossilised bones of a huge beast. Keeper is a Napan who spoke perfect Daru, and knew about Teblors, and was way faster & powerful than Teblors. Keeper is either Urko or Crust.
- Keeper is the famous Malazan High Fist who faked his drowning near Aren. He took half of Aren's treasury with him.
- Teblor make blood oil from a red powder scrapped from cliffsides. This red powder helped them repel magic attacks. Sounds like another source for Otataral. Till now only known source is Otataral mines tightly controlled by Malazans.
- Karsa is imprisoned by Malazans in Ehrlitan, and escapes with a blue eyed native - Leoman.
- Gamet was the captain of House Guard for house of Paran, fought in Wickan Wars, now a Fist at Aren.
- Fiddler listed under the name of Strings and got assigned to Lieutenant Ranal at Aren.
- Admiral Nok was the only surviving commander from Emperor's time. He now commanded 107 ships.
- Tavore tasked Pearl and Lostara Yil to find Felisin. Baudin was contracted to guard her at Otataral mines.
- Kellanved began with Dancer and then recruited members to raise his empire. The first hires were Nok, Dujek, Ameron (half Napan), Nok's wife Hawl. This group targetted pirate Mock who unofficially ruled the Malaz Island. Kellanved's group were granted entry to Deadhouse (how?) and that resulted in these guys having increased lifespan, immunity to diseases, etc. Dancer then recruited Napan brothers Crust and Urko, Surly (or Laseen) - another Napan, Toc Elder, Dassem Ultor - a Dal Honese like Kellanved - and Tayschrenn - a renegade High Septarch of D'rek Cult. Duiker also joined this group, and they took Malaz City with the loss of Hawl. Crust & Urko planned to use Kellanved to establish Napan supremacy against Untans but lost their fleet. Surly carried out ambition later by assassinating Kellanved and Dancer. Crust, Urko and Ameron were not part of betrayal but being Napan they would be judged knowledgeable about the plot, so they disappeared.
- Fiddler is Sergeant of 4th squad under Ranal in 9th company under Keneb in 8th Legion under Gamet. Gesler is Sergeant of 5th squad.
- Braven Tooth was the drill sergeant who named most of Bridgeburners.
- Onrack saved clanless Tiste Edur - Trull Sengar - from dying in Nascent.
- Heboric didn't trust Karsa
- Leoman was not trusted by Felisin Sha'ik.
- Quick Ben and Kalam killed the Rashan followers under Bidithal in Ehrlitan, but spared Lostara and Bidithal. Kellanved took that as a betrayal.
- Kellanved practiced Meanas - sister warren of Rashan
- Quick liked Lostara Yil
- Lostara was a dancer under temple of Rashan, but Shadown Dancing was actually an art of assassination, and Cotillion was himself a Shadow Dancer.
- Kalam finds Kindly's 2nd company holed up in a fortress at B'ridys, under seige by Izziz's 3rd company, both Ashok regiment. He allies with a minor mage - Sinn - whose parents were killed by Fayelle and her brother is trapped with Kindly.
- Azalan demons came from a territory in Shadow realm bordering that of the Aptorians. They were forest-dwelling beasts with 6 hands, no feet, blue in colour, possessed human-like shadows within him.
- Crokus and Apsalar crash on to Drift Avalii where they meet Darist - very tall old Tiste Andii with white hair and black skin.
- Hounds don't cast shadow, because they themselves are shadows of the Hounds of Darkness.
- Dessimbelackis founded the human First Empire, he veered into seven beast (as D'ivers) much before unleashing of the Beast Ritual. Onrack thinks those are the real Hounds, and can only be controlled by occupier of Throne of Shadow, but to do that Kurald Emurlahn needs to be made whole again.
- Onrack destroyed the 2 live statues of Hounds on Nascent, then the freed Hounds of Darkness shattered his left arm and left him powerless to even turn to dust - he has sustained so much physical destruction that his Vow was broken.
- Onrack and Trull found Moranth munitions in Nascent, using which they broke a ward and a golden wall got created through which four Tiste Liosan riders came out and tried to kill Onrack; but he is saved by Trull, Monok Ochem and Ibra Gholan and his two warriors - Olar Shayn and Haran Epal. The last three went to Kurald Thyrllan to kill the false Liosan god acting in place of Osric. They succeeded in wounding it, Olar is found decapacitated by Pearl. Haran also appears killed by L'oric.
- Osric is lost in some other realm and unable to return to Tiste Liosan
- Edur and Liosan don't have sorcerers but warrior-priests. This means their power depends on the mercy of the their god.
- Karsa carved statues and faces of his friends and the Seven God's in stone and trees of a glade filled with snakes within Raraku. This was the plan of tge Seven so that they can finally get free from that Rock.
- Heboric possessed the spirit of an alien power, a Jade giant, buried under Otataral to contain him, but Heboric allowed him an escape through his ghost hands through which he is now feeling this world and growing stronger
- There are multiple Jade giants buried under Otataral. Either someone makes sure to cover them with Otataral each time they arrive, or tge portal they use to arrive creates Otataral.
- Gesler used to serve under Korbolo
- Edur sailing towards Drift Avalii were challenged by three Malazan dromons. Andii on the floating island didn't help humans as they had vowed to not leave the island. Some Malazans survived and hid on the island. Among those were a female Captain - tall, muscular, red haired, bronze hued skin, gold hued eyes - a female mage, Hawl, a Talon - entire right side of body burnt - and a man called Traveller - Dal Honese, dusky skinned, short greyish black curled hair, deep blue eyes, scarred, assassin looks, carried battered hauberk & a longsword. This man saved Malazans' lives, but after batlle with Edur, only those injured Malazans in the cave are left on Drift Avalii. Traveller is known to Cotillion who arrives to save the Throne and provides Andarist's sword to Traveller.
- The thin sword Darist carried was called K'orladis or Grief. His brother made it and had named it T'an Aros or Vengeance.
- Darist's real name is Andarist and is younger brother of Rake, but without the Draconian blood that Rake had.
- In the water below B'ridys fortress, Kalam saw a Toblakai's decayed body possessed by a demon which tried to kill him. Looks like the bidy was chained long before even the Nameless Ones. This demon took over the body of an enkar'al and tried to kill Kalam but was itself killed. But Kalam was seriously injured in the process and saved by Iskaral Pust. The enkar'al was the last of its kind east of Jhag Odhan, and it's body was now trapped within Toblakai's chained body. He was chosen to be a champion by wolf gods.
- Tanno Spiritwalkers are descended from Nameless Ones.
- Kalam was sent by Cotillion to deliver some dusky diamonds (containing demons?) to Iskaral. The diamonds actually came from Shadowthrone.
- Iskaral's wife Mogora is a Soletaken and veers into spiders.
- Lostara and Pearl found a pit of bones and ruins when travelling through Imperial Warren and through it reached a dark place where an otataral aspected dragon was nailed to a X-shaped cross. The pinned dragon was not really there but in a pocket warren. It was captured by atleast six other dragons. They find a bloody trail of false Liosan god, which the three Logros T'lan Imass were pursuing. They found severed head of Olar and put it on top of a ledge in human realm.
- Whirlwind is the largest fragment of Kurald Emurlahn in human realm. Bidithal wanted to use it's power to get rid of Kellanved from Shadow Realm
- L'oric failed to reach in time to save his familiar - a bird-sized creature - from the ambush of Ibra Gholan's T'lan Imass.
- T'riss is Queen of Dreams, copper-gold hair, pale heart-shaped face, grey eyes
- All Tiste can hide their traits and can blend into surrounding population
- Osric is sleeping (where?)
- Felisin Younger was cut between her legs by Bidithal. L'oric, Karsa, Leoman, Heboric and Felisin - all knew his intentions but did nothing. She crawled into Karsa's glade where Ber'ok promised to get Bidithal killed in return of the girl serving him.
- Heboric had a vision showing him how Jade Giants emerged, one after another, from some point in space and were disappearing into a enormous red rent in space. It looked like the same rent through which Crippled God was brought down. The giants were sexless, with perfect features, but didn't look alive. Some of them had limbs missing and were spinning. There were thousands of screaming humans trapped within each giant. He got trapped in one of the giants and listened to conversation of Leandris and Cassa. Then he woke up from the vision to see his ghost hands did no longer have otataral, but has got slashes of black. Also his tattoos were transformed, and his senses became superhuman. He has been recruited by Treach as Destriant.
- Karsa came across D'ivers Ryllandaras (wolves) who warned him of danger of Icarium and Mappo. He meets them excavating a seven-headed hound's black stone statue in a mountain. Icarium broke Karsa's wood sword and got punched hard in return. Mappo hit Karsa from behind to knock him unconscious.
- Souls of those killed by Karsa are chained to him and follow him, including Delum and Bairoth, due to a curse by Seven Gods. This is sort of competition to Hood who now dislikes Karsa.
- To shorten his journey to Jhag Odhan, Karsa travelled through a dreamworld (Tellan). He followed the trail of an army (T'lan Imass). He saw bodies (Jhag) pinned beneath stone slabs but didn't free them. Soon he reached ice covered land (Omtose Phellack) and entered a square-walled tower. A female Jaghut - Aramala - was trapped inside in High Tellan sorcery, slowly killing her and her warren which in turn would kill Jhag Odhan. Karsa resisted the Tellan power and freed her. She had killed seven T'lan Imass scouts but one escaped her. These are the Seven Gods of Teblor.
- Jhags were half-blood Jaghuts, like Icarium. Aramala told Karsa the truth about other half of Jhags.
- On the edge of Jhag Odhan, Karsa saw flint mines, where T'lan Imass made their weapons. He entered one of the caves and saw huge caches of stone weapons and a knotted, twisted guldindha tree. He then declared that he has delivered the spirits of his seven Gods to their desired place and freed them. Their physical forms were approaching. Siballe told him that they have a ready army of the sacrificed children which should be used to fight lowlanders attacking Teblor clans. Karsa agreed to that but refused to become the Eighth God. He he fashioned a flint spear invested with Bairoth and Delum's souls to save them from Hood.
- Karsa is now Knight of Chains, champion of the Crippled God.
- 3000 Khendryl fighters joined Tavore's army to fight against Korbolo. Their shamans saw victory and wandering for the Fourteenth Army.
- Fiddler hears some spirit urging him to go to to Raraku (Spiritwalker song related?)
- Two dogs from Coltaine's Chain survived , and now travelling with Gesler who had saved them, smaller one named Roach.
- Admiral Nok retook the city of Ubaryd.
- Cotillion took the dead body of Hawl with him to Shadow Realm. Did he love her?
- Why do Cotillion and Shadowthrone want Talon stopped? and why kill Master of Talon?
- Traveller was the third companion of Kellanved and Dancer.
- Gryllen was the rats D'ivers
- Lostara and Pearl didn't find Baudin's body. They conclude Hood had taken it.
- Onrack loved Tool's sister Kinarva
- Icarium was known to Liosan.
- Jorrude and his company of Liosan - Malachar, Enias, Orenas - were betrayed by Imass, to gain access to their warren.
- Karsa named his flint sword Bairoth Delum. He cut 'Siballe with it and carried her head and right arm with him. Remaining part was used by Onrack.
- Cynnigig, a Jaghut, was friend of Aramala and helped Karsa reach Phyrlis, a female Jaghut who has become part of an ancient tree, growing on the grounds of an Azath house. She had been impaled with a spear with wood of that tree by Imass. That Azath house was already dying at that time and looks like it housed Icarium's father whom he was trying to free and almost did. It was the Azath house's power that led to that spear grow into a tree and also Phyrlis to survive. The house itself is dead.
- Phyrlis contributed to the longevity of Jhag horses and Karsa now has one of them, named Havoc. Trell hunt these horses now. Icarium's arrows are also made out of Phyrlis' wood.
- Scillara poisoned Kobolo's wine
- Grub was son of Keneb, and was going to be the First Sword of the Late Empire.
- Crokus took a bow and arrows from one of the dead Edur.
- Traveller, remaining Malazan and Tiste Andii of Drift Avalii look ready to sail on one of the dromons which Apsalar thinks is more like a temple. The floating island and the Shadow Throne is now protected by demons put their by Cotillion.
- Shadowthrone claimed the First Throne of T'lan Imass but didn't use it. That way he avoided confrontation, while still ensuring no one else takes that power. Crokus thinks Shadowthrone plans to do the same with all other Thrones - claim them and then do nothing, hence achieving domination over everyone.
- Traveller had renamed Andarist's sword back to it's original name - Vengeance.
- Edur were the initial masters of Hounds, that's why Blind didn't attack Edur on Drift Avalii.
- Tenag Ilbaie was the Logros Bonecaster sent to Kron to help in L'aederon Wars, but failed against Forkrul Assail. He is one of the Teblor Gods. His original name was Haran 'Alle.
- Onrack says that kin of Trull serve same master as renegade Teblor Gods. Do Liosan serve Crippled God? Doesn't sound right.
- Onrack feared renegade Teblor Gods are trying to reach First Throne, but only a mortal can sit on the Throne. So they will try to place a mortal Tiste Edur on the Throne, who can then command Silverfox. She might be in danger from renegade T'lan Imass who don't want to be free of their bodies as most other want.
- First Throne is in Quon Tali.
- Logros army is marched in Seven Cities anticipating something. They only sent representatives to Silverfox's summons and won't spare any to protect First Throne. What can be that serious event ?
- Tanno was the Eleventh Seneschal of Yaraghatan, banished by First Emperor for allying with Nameless Ones.
- Dessimbelackis was the First Emperor. He made pact with Deragoth and they acted as Seven Protectors against the Nameless Ones. Seven Cities were named after the beasts.
- Karam saw two massive dog shaped beasts in Raraku, similar to Hounds.
- Whirlwind Goddess was the spirit of one of the T'lan Imass, of times before First Empire of Dessimbelackis, killed by humans and buried in Raraku. The spirit is now free of the Ritual.
- L'oric was in Raraku because he sensed his father's presence here.
- Through Karsa's glade in Raraku, L'oric reached a time earlier than Tellan and saw Hounds of Darkness - Deragoth - with half human creatures. He also saw K'Chain Che'Malle scouts who failed terribly and L'oric realized why K'Chain Che'Malle failed to establish colonies on the continent containing Raraku.
- Oscric transforms into a gold and white dragon.
- Moon's Spawn was found trapped in a glacier north of Laederon Plateau, by Rake and Osric.
- Osric is a Liosan.
- Eleint seems to mean Dragon.
- L'oric finds a strange demon named Greyfrog in Raraku's old memory and brings him back to the present.
- Treach is a Soletaken from the First Empire.
- Participants in chaining the Fallen God were Hood, Fener, Queen of Dreams, Osserc, Oponn in addition to ascendants including Rake, Brood, etc.
- Onrack and Trull joined Monok and Ibra to defend First Throne. There they are joined by Panek riding Apt.
- Panek has one massive eye, large mouth with needle fangs, and other features similar to aptorian, while having a human body.
- Otataral had unpredictable nature when inhaled or absorbed through skin. Also, it didn't go well with Moranth ammunitions. Infact, it doesn't like being hot. Magic didn't go well on hot otataral.
- Before Imass, Eres lived, in warm savannas unlike cold climate of Imass. Eres were tall with dark skin covered in fine hair. All of them were Bonecasters. Just before reaching the crevasse housing the throne, one Eres woman attacked Trull and 'stole his seed'. Looks like same woman somehow talked to Bottle just before Battle of Raraku.
- some ghost like creatures saved Heboric against assassins. who were they?
- The trespassers Jorrude and his company were chasing was among Travore's army.
- Korbolo survived Scillara's poison and tried to kill L'oric, Bidithal, etc to take control of Whirlwind.
- Mathok and his clan withdrew from the battle to safeguard the Book of Dryjhna and went to Y'Ghatan.
- Greyfrog claims he will marry Felisin Younger.
- Kalam killed 5 members of Korbolo's Talon, who were going to kill Bidithal. Then he entered Bidithal's temple and killed his shadow servants with the help of Cotillion, whose skills with rope impressed Kalam a lot. In the temple Kalam also completed his mission to find out the source of threat to Shadow Realm - House of Chains trying to usurp the realm by using Whirlwind warren fragment as the entry.
- Bidithal was under the influence of Chained God.
- Felisin replaced Korbolo as the Commander of the Army of Apocalypse with Leoman.
- When Kalam went to kill Korbolo, a ghost of someone he knew from past helped. Inside the tent, he killed a grey-robed Pardu assassin carrying Kethra knives, who knew Kalam. He was one of the three Talons accompanying Kamist Reloe. Kalam killed all three Talons, and then Kamist with the help of Quick Ben whom he summoned using an acorn. They captured Korbolo and delivered him to Pearl.
- Pearl killed Henaras who was protecting Korbolo, but then got severely wounded by ghost warriors.
- Karsa killed Bidithal and Febryl, and the two Deagoth who arrived in Raraku (second one got some blows from Leoman).
- Raraku seems to be a living thing.
- Whirlwind Goddess, under the influence of Crippled God, is trying to fashion a portal, as big as the oasis, using the warren fragment.
- Leoman's troops were attacked by Dogslayers.
- Gamet died and his ghost fought alongside ghost-warriors of Raraku extracting revenge on Dogslayers. Among these warriors were Wickans. Quick thinks these ghosts rose due to the Tanno song.
- The Spiritwalker in Ehrlitan had stolen Bridgeburners tale and created a song which took effect when Bridgeburners died, and then ascended as a company.
- Whirlwind Goddess was the T'lan Imass that loved Onrack and was infuriated when he drew Kinava's image. Febryl devised a path for Korbolo's Talons to reach her and they killed her.
- L'oric got wounded while trying to save Felisin from Sha'ik and was saved by Osric.
- Felisin gets killed by Tavore immediately after Whirlwind Goddess died. Her body is taken by Pearl before anyone could recognize her. Pearl and Lostara tell Tavore that Felisin is dead.
- Leoman ordered hsi desert warriors to disperse and headed for Y'Ghatan.
- Kindly was a prisoner in Dogslayer camp and was freed by two ghosts of Bridgeburners.
- Keneb knows Kindly, maybe they had been in same Ashok regiment together.
- Ranal took three squads to chase running desert warriors, who ambushed them in a desert storm and killed Ranal.
- Jorrude and his Liosan were chasing Gesler and his companions because they had crossed through their warren on Silanda. But Gesler got one cusser thrown at them and now they decided to chase the dragon, a T'lan Imass Bonecaster, in whose wake Silanda followed.
- Fayelle was killed by Sinn.
- Fiddler was saved by Hedge's ghost. And then he met Kalam and Quick.
- Raraku exploded and turned into a sea.
- Heboric, Scillara and Felisin Younger escaped with Greyfrog and met Pust. They are going to meet up with Crokus who has been asked by Cotillion to look after Felisin Younger.
- Baudin is the Knight of Death (the one guarding Mhybe?).
- Karsa showed mercy on 'Siballe and threw her severed head into the sea so that she can dissolve and her soul could be freed.
- Minala was guarding the First Throne along with Panek, a few other children, Trull, Onrack, Monok and Ibra.
Book 5
- Three sons of Mother Dark - Andarist, Rake, Silchas Ruin.
- Scabandari was a Tiste Edur Soletaken. His dragon form has iron-hued wings and ice blue eyes. His Edur form has iron coloured skin, long grey hair, broad downturned mouth, high unlined brow like a white diagonal scar. Kurald Emurlahn was shattered and he was looking to settle in this world. He wanted no competition from Andii, so he induced grief in Andarist and betrayed Silchas. Rake was already missing. Among other races, K'Chain Che'Malle are almost gone from the world, Jaghut are few and scattered, Imass are not considered powerful enough, Forkrul Assail are disinterested in Edur and getting fewer in number.
- Silchas Ruin was a Tiste Andii Soletaken. Dragon form: bone-white skin, larger than Scabandari. Andii form: tall, gaunt with muscles bound like rope beneath smooth skin which was almost translucent, long white hair, bright red eyes, long fingers. He fought alongside Scabandari against three Matrons' armies of K'Chain Che'Malle, but after the battle, the Edur betrayed him and imprisoned him in Azath House.
- Morn was the last city of K'Chain Che'Malle.
- Kurald Galain was plagued with civil wars.
- Silchas gave the name 'Bloodeye' to Scabandari because his vision was stained by blood.
- Gothos was alive during this time and was trying to kill all the Edur betrayers but Mael made him instead preserve the area in ice. He was extremely powerful and his ice magic trapped everything, even the spirits were unable to leave and there was no Hold of Death. Now the sorcery is dying and world is thawing, and Hold of Death is manifesting itself again.
- Mael was the Elder Lord of the Sea. He was wide and squat, deep blue skin that faded to gold at throat and bared belly, blond hair, amber eyes.
- Third city of Meckros was destroyed by sudden mountains of ice (probably due to Gothos). Only Withal the Swordmaker survived and landed on a strange place - milky white sky, reptilian seagulls, razor-edged tubular grass. He was escorted by three Bhoka'ral-looking Nachts - Rind, Mape, Pule - to a tent where the Crippled God made him forge Rhulad's sword.
- Scabandari was Father Shadow and has three daughters - Daughter Dark (Sheltatha Lore), Daughter of Deceipt (Sukul Ankhadu) aka Dapple, and Daughter Dawn (Menandore).
- Trull saw Letherii ships illegally harvesting seals on Calach shore. He ran for three days to inform his tribe. This harvesting was part of a grand scheme by Letherii to trap Edur.
- Six Edur tribes - Hiroth, Merude, Arapay, Sollanta, Den-Ratha and Beneda - fought a long war among themselves but due to the their rules, there were only few actual deaths. These rules were not followed in wars against Letherii.
- Edur hunted with spears.
- Udinaas was one of the Letherii slaves under the Sengar house. He was a sailor earlier and under Hiroth his task was to repair nets. He hated the seas. He injured a Wyval and now has its blood within him.
- To the Letherii, only gold mattered.
- Trull was from Hiroth tribe. His father was Tomad. His brothers were Fear, Binadas and Rhulad. His mother was Uruth. Fear was Horoth's Weapon Master. He was betrothed to Mayen, but Rhulad fancied her and married her later and made her pregnant.
- Midik Buhn was a friend of Rhulad.
- Feather Witch was a handmaid to Mayen. She has thick yellow hair and small child-like body. Udinaas loved her and saved her from an invisible Wyval during one of her castings.
- Before anything there was black Abyss. Then came three Fulcra known as Realm Forgers - Fire (energy), Dolmen (rock), Errant (chance). Then Holds were forged by Errant - Ice, Eleint, Azath, Beast, Empty Hold. In their midst emerged the remaining Fulcra - Axe, Knuckles, Blade, the Pack, Shapefinder, White Crow.
- In the visions of Feather Witch, the Hold of Beast has no one on the Bone Perch, and there is chaos everywhere with powerful creatures roaming. To tame them, Hold of the Azath is formed by Errant. Then he forms Ice Hold to war against time, with Death sitting on Ice Throne. To achieve balance, Eleint is born and chaos is given flesh in dragon form, ruled by the Queen.
- Letherii worshipped the Empty Hold. It was at the centre of realms, home to the Throne without any King, home to Wanderer Knight, home to waiting Mistress, home to the Watcher, home to the Walker, home to Saviour, home to Betrayer.
- The intricacies of forging iron was lost when Father Shadow disappeared. One example of such work was a true Emurlahn blade in Sengar house inside a tree.
- Hannan Mosag was the Warlock King of Hiroth tribe. He has an extraordinary mastery of Emurlahn fragments. After the civil war, he became overlord of all the Edur tribes. From each of the defeated tribes, eldest son was made hostage to Hannan and he has turned them into his K'risnan Cadre. They were his apprentice in sorcery, with their original names stripped and new names given by their master. Hannan has a powerful wraith as bodyguard. Hannan was of average height and build, his power lay in his rich and deep voice, and the wraith bodyguard.
- Merude was the biggest tribe but still surprisingly surrended to Hiroth, due to something that Hannan did to their Chief Hanradi Khalag.
- Ezgara Diskanar was king of Lether. Triban Gnol was the Chancellor. Janall was the Queen and Turudaal Brizard her first consort. Quillas was the Prince. Nifadas was First Eunuch. 'Ceda' Kuru Qan was King's Sorcerer. 'Preda' Unnutal Hebaz was old commander. Moroch Nevath was Prince's Guardsman. Nisall was King's First Concubine.
- After the shattering of Emurlahn, the Edur could use it's magic but the warren was lost to them.
- Hannan didn't want to kill Letherii harvesters by direct fighting, because he saw that it was an anticipated reaction of Edur. Instead he planned to kill them by magic through a full unveiling of Emurlahn by his K'risnan. Last such unveiling was done by Scabandari before the Shattering. But he instead summoned a sea demon to kill the harvesters.
- Hannan asked Trull and his brothers to travel east and extract the sword. Theradas and Midik Buhn are to accompany them.
- Buruk the Pale has acquired rights to trade using one of the seven passages to Edur lands, under the guidance of an Acquitor - Seren Pedac. He employed Nerek slaves.
- Seren has discovered healing powers of obsidian stone found near innermost reach of Trate.
- Hull Beddict was the old Sentinel who had returned the King's Reed long ago and thus betrayed Letherii. He was tall, white long braided hair, skin as a tanned hide, grey eyes. Wore white fur of north wolf. His research on the tribes of Nerek, Faraed and Tarthental led to their subjugation by Lether. Hull didn't know that Tehol had resettled some of the tribes on a few islands.
- Tehol and Brys were brothers of Hull. Brys was Finadd of the Royal Guard and now King's Champion. Tehol was excellent at conning but to hide his debt, he lived like a poor man with his intelligent servant Bugg.
- Three woman - Shand, Rissarh, Hejun - search out Tehol and ask him to use his conning prowess to buy all the islands thus destroying Lether economy (by defaulting on the payment?). These women are from Faraed and Tarthental and want revenge by crippling Letheras.
- Udinaas saw a dream of dragons going to war.
- Father Shadow had buried Brother Dark and imprisoned Brother Light - true father of Menandore - in the moon.
- Tiste invasions drove the Kaschan to their extinction. Before dying they fashioned a curse on Mother Dark that will eventually kill her, thus causing everything in the Abyss to become mortal and ultimately become extinct. The eternal game between Light, Dark and Shadow will eventually end and with it all the existence will cease.
- Scabandari earned the enmity of every God and ascendant, and they killed his body and imprisoned his soul in a prison of eternal pain. To kill him, the Eleint spawned a child of indescribable terror to hunt him down. An Elder God Kilmandaros shattered his skull.
- Binadas was tall, braided brown hair, eyes the colour of wet sand, ash coloured skin, broad mouth.
- Blackwood, grown in Edur lands, could heal itself and resist magic. It didn't shatter except under powerful magic like that of Forkrul.
- Finadd Gerun Eberict had saved king's life and now could not be criminally prosecuted. He used that pardon to kill many people in Letharas. He was being sent to the General Meeting with Edur.
- Tehol knew that it was Gerun who sent the assassins to king and then killed them to receive lifelong pardon. In turn, Gerun knew that Tehol was just acting destitute.
- Shurq Elalle was a master thief who died and then resurrected.
- Ublala Pung was hired as bodyguard to the three women by Tehol. He is a Tarthental and has four lungs.
- Bugg has magical abilities and is much more than what he appears. He knows Jaghut, Jheck God, Avowed, Imass, etc.
- Azath tower in Letheras was the oldest of Azath houses and it was dying. Due to that, its hold on its prisoners was weakening and five evil Toblakai kin were almost set to be released. Also the Guardian (Kettle? Protector?) was not ready and was to be released by choice.
- Shurq found a nine year old undead child named Kettle dragging a dead body beneath Azath ground.
- Wither was one of Tiste Andii souls betrayed by Edur, now residing in Udinaas' shadow as a wraith. Edur lands have many such Andii souls. Looks like Silchas' was one among them.
- Udinaas could visit the 'memories' of the battle of Andii and Edur with K'Chain Che'Malle, and he saw the whole scene frozen. He also saw a family of Jaghut murdered by a Forkrul Assail, also frozen in time.
- Silchas drank Tiam's blood more than Rake.
- Letherii are descendants of First Empire, while Nerek are the original people of the land.
- Kettle killed Gerun's spies and fed their bodies to the Azath house.
- Selush beautified the dead body of Shurq.
- Brys' spirit goes to deep ocean floor and sees 6 dolmens rendered powerless by the glyphs inscribed on them (how?). They are protected by a Guardian who is defeated and later helped by Brys. These dolmen are ancient gods whose names have been forgotten. Hannan stole and enslaved one of these (how?). By helping the Guardian and giving him his unbreakable Letherii sword, Brys ensured that Edur can't capture more of these gods.
- In another of his visions induced by Wither, Udinaas saw some creatures afraid of skykeep, and then Dapple (Sukul Ankhadu) and Menandore dragging limp body of Dusk (Sheltatha Lore). They are confronted by Osserc.
- Dusk is the moat cherished daughter of Scabandari and Protectress of Tiste Edur.
- Dapple is Osserc's daughter, her mother - Tiam - is Osserc's sister who died during childbirth. Tiam died and was reborn thousand times.
- Osserc delayed Rake long enough to allow Scabandari to escape after betrayal.
- Mother Dark's first children were not Tiste Andii and they were born without a father.
- Sheltatha and Draconus were lovers and have two daughters - Envy and Spite.
- Crippled God offered Hannan a sword which appeared in ice fields and Rhulad gets killed by Jheck while retrieving it. Crippled God brings him back to life and recruits him.
- Gerun killed his brother Harlest but kept his dead body alive by not allowing his soul to escape. He helped Shurq steal diamonds and legal documents from Gerun.
- Udinaas covered Rhulad's dead body, including eyes, in gold coins and sealed it with wax. Upon returning to life, he can't see but talk and doesn't feel the weight of all the metal.
- Reborn Rhulad has immense magical powers. He healed Binidas' wounds that other healers were unable to. All Hiroth Edur including Hannan accepted him as their emperor. Trull didn't trust the God behind this rebirth and power.
- Hannan wanted to forge an empire for Tiste Edur. He made a pact with Crippled God with intention of betraying him later. Now Rhulad has the same dream and he has the powerful sword.
- A Wyval attacked and wounded Udinaas when Letherii delegation was arriving. (why?)
- Menandore raped Udinaas in a dream and produced a child - Found - on Meckros.
- Letherii Fulcra personified Errant as Forkrul Assail.
- While digging one of the quarries, Bugg's people found a Khalibaral demon. Then from somewhere appeared a Jaghut Huntress - tall, grey green skin, blonde hair, light grey eyes, pupils as vertical slits, silver-capped tusks, heavy-breasted. She was the one who had buried the demon. He calls her during Edur attack also, but not sure for what purpose.
- Brys visits dead Azath Tower, where Kettle meets him and takes him to talk to a trapped Protector, who shows Brys the visions from the day of the Chained God falling. Kettle is the Keeper of the Azath Tower. This Protector has been around atleast since Falling of the God. Brys gives him two ancient Letherii steel swords, to get free of a female stopping him from coming out. (who is this woman?)
- Bugg could identify undead people, and so could Tehol. (Bugg is a god, but how Tehol can?)
- Nerek worshipped Eres'al, Tarthental worshipped five Seregahl, the Wrath Wielders.
- The mottled sword gave Rhulad the power to control the wraiths. Somehow Wither escaped that control.
- Protector showed Kettle the inverted spaces of Forkrul Assail, who wanted balance in everything and some were killed by Protector, though he admits it required the power of dragons to kill them. Some Forkrul still remain imprisoned, and worshipped.
- Kettle has soul of a Forkrul Assail and the soul of a child of Eres.
- Nameless Ones are Forkrul Assail.
- Rhulad took all gold from Buruk and his Nerek slaves. Buruk later committed suicide in Trate, and Nerek were almost killed by Letherii sorcerer's attack. They survived by crowding around a sacred hearth.
- Hull swore loyalty to Rhulad and told him Letherii military's secrets.
- The sea-demon-god used by Hannan to capture Trate was not a lifeform, but just the various memories and offerings of ancient people come to life.
- Under the power of sword, Jhecks become allies of Edur, and their leader was B'nagga.
- One of the time measuring mechanisms of Icarium was in Edur village and was used as a bridge.
- The realm of this story has six continents and 811 islands, all these were charted by First Empire before being destroyed by T'lan Imass.
- Feather Witch asked Udinaas to take her to his dreamworld, but instead they reached Starvald Demelain. There they meet Found Elalle, son of Udinaas and Menandore, raised by 4000 T'lan Imass who don't know they are dead, led by Ulshun Pral. Their Bonecaster sacrificed his life to seal the gate through which beasts came. The child was born in the (Third?) city of Meckros that got destroyed by ice. The whole wreckage of that city was in this realm.
- Ulshun Pral had broad shoulder, long arms, honey coloured skin, black hair, wide face, short in height, muscular.
- Seren was approached by Iron Bars to travel with them back to their home. He and six others were from Fourth company of Crimson Guard, escaping from Assail, their commander Cal-Brinn killed, and were in Trate for last 2 years. Iron Bars saved Seren and then killed Rhulad and his 7 Edur bodyguards. After Edur arrived, their mage - Corlo - was able to open a warren to Letheras - Kurald Galain.
- The Tiste Andii killed by Edur had their spirits bound to them and served as wraiths. There were others who died before the betrayal, and were not under Edur control but their spirits were trapped. One such spirit was Sandalath Drukorlat who helped Iron Bars and his company out of the maze of Kurald Galain. In return, he threw her ring into ocean so that she can find oblivion, but Crippled God reunited her soul with her body and brought to meet Withal, as a gift to him for forging the sword.
- Iron Bars was an Avowed of the Crimson Guard. Corlo thought he was almost as good a fighter as Skinner.
- Tehol put Bugg in charge of leading the homeless to the islands he bought, and he led them out of the city.
- Kettle was slowly coming back to life after Azath's death.
- Azath tower has become the Hold of Death. Kettle gave a flagstone tile to Ceda signifying that Hold. Some handsome man/god told Kettle all about Hold of Death. This god was the god of Jhecks, and Moroch was asked by Turudal (Errant) to kill that god.
- Not all Edur joined Rhulad, some stayed behind, probably hidden, in the northernmost parts of Den-Ratha villages.
- During the battle of High Fort, Queen Janall and Price Quillas were captured. Hannan later used their bodies' power to fight against Ceda.
- Trull saved one of the Kenyll'rah demons named Lilac and made him his bodyguard. Then the demon tricked him into a mutual bond and returned to his realm, only Trull can call him back now.
- Bluerose has Tiste Andii people, they bred horses for Lether but equipped with wrong saddle to never teach best horse riding.
- Kenryll'ah were fighting Korvalahrai in their realm and losing. Uruth wanted to seek a formal alliance with them by defeating Korvalahrai and getting a trained Kenryll'ah in return.
- Udinaas is indebted to Huldo, who is owned by Tehol. Hull freed him from his debt.
- Corlo suspects that Seren can control others' mind using warren of Mockra but she doesn't know it.
- First Consort Turudal is Errant himself.
- Rhulad, Trull, Fear, two Kenryll'ah demon tyrants and Arapay K'risnan went the destroyed town of Brous and met a Forkrul Assail - Serenity - and was forced to run due to the two demons. The Forkrul was surrounded by starlings earlier, and the demons went in his pursuit, eventually unsuccessul. Rhulad was killed the third time and reborn.
- Iron Bars and his company are hired by Shurq to man her ship. Shand and her two friends are on the ship as well.
- Bugg asked Iron Bars and his soldiers to kill Jheck god - a D'ivers of lizard cats. They did but suffered damage. Then Iron Bars killed B'nagga, who with his 9000 wolf Soletaken planned to kill all Edur once they met their god in Letheras
- Hannan Mosag used brutal sorcery to kill thousands of Letherii at Bran's Keep which infuriated Rhulad who wanted a proper fight.
- Moroch fought Rhulad and broke his spine before dying. At same time, Mayen ran off and Udinaas disappeared. Uruth took that as betrayal but Wyval within Udinaas was taking him to Azath as fast as it could. His delay turned Rhulad mad and he ordered Hannan to kill Letherii soldiers by sorcery. Killing of innocent city dwellers by that sorcery was intolerable to Errant and he nudged the power into the ground, trapping it there.
- Protector chosen by Azath was white skinned, long haired, and wasn't able to get free due to some woman holding him back.
- The sea demon used by Hannan was waiting to reach Letheras to get to something beneath the city that can help him get free. He wanted to become the god of rivers. He reached the enormous cavern beneath the Settle Lake but it was a deceit and he was trapped in ice by Ceda.
- Bugg asked Iron Bars to help kill the five Tartheno Toblakai coming out of Azath prison. At the last moment, Bugg disappeared and left Iron Bars alone to deal with the five warriors. He managed to hurt one of them badly in the eye, but this was the best he could do. These Toblakai are Seregahl - gods of Tarthentals - and almost got better of Iron Bars. But at the last moment Ublala arrived.
- Tehol's bodyguard was a Shavankrats, sent by Brys.
- Gerun went to kill Tehol but was captured by a massive half Tarthenal, half Nerek man (probably the one whose grandmother was saved by Bugg/Tehol earlier).
- Bugg saw Theradas and 13 of his Edur beating Tehol to death and he killed them all with his magic - by making them implode and then explode. He sent Theradas into icy black waters where the immense pressure killed him (this looks like the body Paran found outside Coral). Bugg then mended Tehol's body and revealed to him his identity as Mael.
- Nerek thought Hull betrayed them and they killed him.
- Corlo Orothos was a High Mage of Crimson Guard, he was from Unta. He helped Iron Bars fight Seregahl gods by confusing them.
- Tarthenals pray to the Seregahl gods to keep them away. That's why Ublala decided to fight the five Toblakai and killed two of them.
- Wyval within Udinaas took him to a barrow near Azath tower. On the way it killed 30 wolves and six Edur, while Udinaas' body was badly damaged. The barrow was where Wyval's Master was trying to break free and Kettle stood with two swords. The Wyval discarded Udinaas' body and took his real form - winged, big as an ox, red-purple tail.
- Kettle helped Udinaas recover by offering drops of her blood on suggestion of Wither.
- Ceda, in addition to defeating sea-demon-god, also painted a tile to focus the power of Cedance through which he killed the remaining K'risnan. Ceda was powerful and his ancient God like sorcery was stronger than Hannan's - who was now without his sea-demon-god - but at the last moment, Trull killed Kuru Qan with his spear. Hannan used the power from bodies of Queen and Quillas to fight against Ceda.
- Protector of Azath was Silchas. He was finally freed with help of Wyval, and helped kill the remaining Toblakai gods.
- Wither's real name is Killanthir, Third High Mage of Sixth Cohort. He helped the Wyval fight against the female who kept Silchas trapped.
- Brys disabled Rhulad's body but didn't kill him, only left him bleeding out, while no one could heal him. His skills put Fear in his awe.
- Ezgara and Nifadas drank poisoned wine and were dead before Brys started his fight. He also drank same wine unknowingly and died.
- Nisall and 6 King's guard disappeared during Brys' fight. No clue what happened to them.
- The deep sea armoured Guardian that Brys helped, killed Rhulad for the fourth time, thus dashing Hannan's dream of taking the throne himself. The armoured person also collected Brys' dead body to where Tehol lied unconscious and transferred the ancient forgotten names to Tehol's memory. Then he made Brys the second permanent Guardian of the deep sea place. (does that mean there is a similar backstory about the first Guardian?)
- Chancellor Tribnan Gnol pledged to Rhulad.
- Feather Witch picked up a severed finger of Brys.
- Fear blamed the taking over of Edur by Crippled God on Scabandari and made it his mission to find his spirit.
- Fear, Silchas, Wither (holding Udinaas' body), Kettle, and Wyval came to Seren to guide them out of city unnoticed.
- Silchas is using a false name of Selekis.
- Withal prayed and Mael answered by sending a boat to rescue him and Nachts and the Tiste Andii woman.
Book 6
- Hellian is a sergeant in Septarch district of Kartool City. She is afraid of spiders, and always remains drunk.
- Kartool used to have a strong cult following D'rek - the Worm of Winter. City was ruled by Grand Temple archpriest Demidrek who won by ousting Tayschrenn, and the latter had fled taking with him fragments of Gothos's Folly. The dragon was killed in Shadow Realm and was snared by Jaghut's ritual of Omtose Phellack which later shattered as it couldn't resist the spilled blood and the otatarl used to bind the dragon, though dragon has Elder power and should have been able to resist otataral.

And this refugium is the same place that Quick Ben, Onrack and Trull reached from the Shadow realm.
